Lessons drawn from Noah's life.

The story of Noah (Genesis 5-7 NKJV)

The remarkable story of Noah shows integrity, obedience, and complete faith in God. Noah means "comfort." The Lord had cursed the ground, so his father Lamech named him and said, "This one will comfort us concerning our work and the toil of our hands because of the ground which the Lord has cursed.

At the age of 500, Noah gave birth to Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Noah was a man of integrity who found grace with God. When God decided to destroy the earth because of the evil in the hearts of men, he was exempted  from the destruction of the earth. There was evil in men's hearts during this time, and that made God destroy the earth and exempt Noah and his family because He had seen that they were righteous in their generation. God instructed Noah to build an ark before the destruction and told him and his family to enter the ark for protection. God's instructions were obeyed by Noah. Everything that God said happened, and everyone who wasn't aboard the ark perished in the accompanying massive flood. Those who were on Noah's ark with him survived.

Lessons drawn from Noah's life

God examines our hearts (Genesis 6:5-6).

God is concerned with our heart. He is able to see our innermost thoughts. We cannot pose for God if we can pretend to deceive men. What is the intention of our heart—good or evil? That should be a constant inquiry for us to ask ourselves. How are things in our hearts with God? Can God really take pride in us?

Integrity (Genesis 6:8–9)

Noah was a decent and honorable person. He was the virtuous person of his generation, and God favored him. Noah was a decent man even while the earth was corrupt. He upheld his honesty and distinguished himself by maintaining his character.

Noah’s favour was extended to his family (Genesis 6:18, Genesis 7:1).

God instructed Noah to construct an ark and told him to enter the ark with his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives. His family had favour with God because of his obedience. We should learn to sow good deeds because they will benefit future generations as well as our family. What are we extending to our family and future generations? Also, the favour of God is limitless and unmeasurable.  (Genesis 6:19-20).

Obedience (Genesis 6:22; Genesis 7:7-9).

Noah obediently carried out all of God's instructions. Also, everything God told him came true. Flooding occurred and lasted 150 days (Genesis 7:24). I made an effort to picture Noah disobeying God or putting off important tasks. Obedience is better than sacrifice. Noah trusted God (Genesis 7:17). Noah had faith in God's promises. He continued to put his faith in God despite the uncertain circumstances. After entering the ark with his family, something interesting happened. As the flood began to rage, the level of the water rose, raising the ark above the surface of the planet. On the water's surface, the ark rocked and swirled. At this time, some of you may have wondered, "Did God truly speak to me?".  When God instructs us, we need to trust Him. God's word is always true, He needs us to trust Him.

Prayers

1. Please, Holy Spirit, work in my heart so that God will find my intentions to be good and acceptable.

2. Help me to sow good actions, Holy Spirit. May I always be favoured  by both God and people.

3. Give me directions for the next level, Lord, and give me the grace to follow them without fail.
