Thank God it’s friday! (TGIF)

Friday date nights with my husband has become the norm. Either we are watching a movie, going on a date, working out together, or engaging in sports. Eating good food is one thing that just never changes, no matter how we are feeling. What is even a date night without good food,  For me, it's always the food.

For Hubs, there has to be lots of chicken! Barbeque chicken to be precise. Hubs and chicken are 5 and 6, He just never gets tired of eating chicken. If we decide to eat out, I bet he will get chicken every time. The moment Hubs and the waiter start fussing over the type of chicken he wants is the moment that surprises me. "No, ma'am, please give me that one... No no! Not that one; that one!" Ha! Surprisingly, he enjoys their favour all the time because it cannot be me with a customer, although they did say, "Customers first." Loool  Okay oooo.

However, it's Friday again. Yipeeeee!  Who does not really enjoy Fridays—the start of the weekend aka the weekend Eve! Loool.  It makes perfect sense that the motto is "Thank God It's Friday (TGIF)." In high school, I recall that Friday was my favorite day of the week. I'm wondering why I didn't finish my assignments on Friday instead of waiting until Sunday night now that I've given it a thought.
(I'm sorry to digress, I'll refrain from veering off the main topic.)

I chose to surprise Hubs with a delicious meal because I had earlier told him that we were going to watch a movie at home. When I returned from work, I thought to myself, "Beans haven't been on our menu for a while". it's funny how my mother used to force-feed my siblings and I with beans when we were kids. Since I've grown into the "chef and madam" in my own kitchen, I chose beans as the special meal for our Friday night. Jokes aside, I simply needed a change from the usual carbs. Hubs was going to be surprised but he will love it as long as there's plenty of spiced chicken and plantains on the side.

I began preparing the beans before realizing I needed to finish an essay. I went into my room, but as I was writing and enjoying the peace of my home, I completely forgot about the beans I was cooking when I heard a startling knock at the door. I went to see who was knocking because I was sure it wasn't Hubs. I was utterly shocked to see no one at the door. I instantly recalled that the beans had been cooking. I hurried to the kitchen in the expectation of spotting the pot on fire. Fortunately, I got into the kitchen, turned off the gas, and uncovered the pot. The water had dried up completely, so the beans had just started to burn.

I realized that no one was knocking; the Holy Spirit was the one who reminded me. I had earlier asked the Holy Spirit when I left the kitchen, to remind me that I had some beans on fire, and He responded magnificently. I know that the Holy Spirit is always with me but this experience was mind blowing. it made me joyful. Thank you, Holy Spirit.

That encounter on Friday inspired me to write about the importance of the Holy Spirit in our lives. He is always with us, always willing to live with us. The Holy Spirit is present and can be involved in every aspect of your life. I wish you'd let Him in and put your trust in Him.

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. John‬ ‭14:26‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Cheers to the amazing weekends in 2023!
